Job Description:

You will act as an ambassador and senior technical representative for infrastructure, network, and security while engaging with other senior technical leaders throughout McKinsey (including the CTO, CIO, CISO and other expert engineers and architects). You will lead the experimentation of emerging technologies and tools as well as co-innovate with strategic partners to help drive game-changing solutions and client offerings.

You will play an influential role across the technology community, setting the pace of change and driving standards and adoption of modern technology stacks in collaboration with product groups and engineers across McKinsey’s Tech Ecosystem and the broader firm and external strategic partners.

You will work with vendor partners in determining the optimal service delivery model for our services using a mix of insourced and outsourced capabilities.

You will be responsible for leading a function of approximately 100 network, cloud, and infrastructure engineers.

You will be heavily engaged in the architecture, design, engineering, and operations of the global infrastructure for connecting people, systems and data deployed in a wide range of systems including connectivity for the global office footprint, mobile access, public cloud systems, on-prem co-locations, and client environments.

You will ensure that we are implementing highly automated and secure infrastructure architectures using standards-based technologies adhering to Zero-Trust principles and maintain a constant forward-looking roadmap at the forefront of industry best practice. You will also advance our hybrid infrastructure to meet both global needs and growing local constraints (e.g. data localization), positioning us for a more diversified future.

  • Degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline or military experience; industry recognized network and cloud certifications, patents, open-source contributions are preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in global, enterprise-grade infrastructure operations, design, planning, engineering, and architecture
  • Experience managing large, global remote workforce
  • Collaborative, empathetic, and able to build strong relationships that enable robust debate, and survive periodic disagreements regarding priorities
  • Outstanding analytical thinker with excellent abstract problem-solving skills
  • Experience of modern agile engineering methodologies
  • Experience building partnerships with strategic vendors to ensure operational responsiveness and roadmap alignment
  • Experience with architecting, implementing and managing public cloud, on-prem, and hybrid architecture
  • Deep understanding of technology related to enterprise networking including routing, switching, security, wireless, WAN, mobile access, automation, and observability
