Job summary

Aylo in the United Kingdom is seeking a Director of Payment Operations to own the strategy, execution, and day-to-day management of our payments ecosystem. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Commercial teams to optimize processing, pricing, routing, and regional expansion while leading a payments team.

This role requires 8+ years in payments and a track record of scaling high-volume operations in fintech or ecommerce.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in payments, fintech, e-commerce, banking, or related industry.
3+ years of senior leadership experience managing payments teams or setting payments strategy.
Strong grasp of payment economics, including interchange, assessments, fees, reserves, and pricing structures.

Responsibilities

Execute the global payments strategy and roadmap across processing, acquiring, payment methods, routing, and geographic expansion.
Manage relationships with acquirers, processors, gateways, PSPs, and card networks, including contracts and SLAs.
Optimize multi-acquirer setups for redundancy, pricing, and global coverage.
Improve authorization and approval rates via decline analysis, retries, and tokenization.
Develop routing strategies and run experiments to measure impact of changes.
Own payment economics and negotiate rates, building financial models for partner proposals.
