Job summary

Brex is seeking a People Business Partner Director supporting Engineering to partner with the CTO and engineering leadership, shaping the organization and talent strategy as Brex scales.

You will operate as a mini-CPO for your client group, ensuring a durable, high-performing engineering organization, defining structure, roles, and progression, and championing AI-powered HR approaches.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in People/HR partnering with engineering or tech teams.
• Experience partnering with CTOs or senior executives.
• Led org design and transformation in high-growth environments.
• Influencing senior leaders and managing change in ambiguity.
• Deep understanding of engineering org structure and scaling.
• Strong business acumen and sound judgment.
• Clear, concise communicator who aligns stakeholders.
• Active interest in AI tools in HR contexts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as thought partner to the CTO and Engineering Managers, shaping organizational design and health.
• Translate business and technical strategy into people and org implications, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Coach leaders on building high-performing teams, including hiring profiles and internal mobility.
• Lead org design efforts including defining structure and rollout.
• Drive clarity around roles, scope, and leveling across Engineering.
• Act as a connector across functions to drive alignment at scale.
• Scope and drive programs with Comp, Talent Management, and other functions.
• Experiment with and champion AI-powered approaches to people processes.
