Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council seeks a Direct Payments Lead to shape and improve direct payments across Adult Social Care. You will drive compliance with the council's legal duties while supporting staff to promote direct payments confidently and consistently.

The role includes developing guidance, policies and training to build practice knowledge and effectiveness, and using data to demonstrate outcomes and value for money.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience within Adult Social Care and direct payments.
• Sound knowledge of Care Act and related legislation; able to apply in complex situations.
• Committed to continuous professional development and up-to-date practice knowledge.
• Experience designing and delivering training and development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on direct payments and maintain accessible, up-to-date policies and procedures.
• Translate national policy changes into local practice for consistent, compliant approaches.
• Design and deliver training, workshops and development opportunities for staff and teams.
• Identify opportunities for service improvement and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with colleagues, commissioners and external providers to share learning and ensure consistent approaches.
• Use performance data to monitor outcomes, benefits and value for money.
