Job summary

Westgate Healthcare is seeking a friendly Dining Coordinator to ensure residents enjoy a welcoming dining experience from menu choice to tea time. You will work with the Head Chef and care team to maintain high standards of service, safety and hygiene across dining areas.

Qualifications

  • Must be friendly and patient with residents.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous care home or hospitality experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Take residents' meal orders and assist choosing.
  • Set tables and maintain dining environment.
  • Serve meals at proper temperature and presentation.
  • Encourage meals and offer alternatives.
  • Support individual dining preferences.
  • Deliver and collect crockery and dining items.
  • Wash crockery and utensils.
  • Keep dining areas clean per COSHH and hygiene.
  • Follow health and safety procedures.
  • Work with care team to meet residents' needs.
  • Assist Head Chef to run mealtimes.
  • Carry out other duties as requested.

Job description

As a Dining Coordinator, you'll help make sure our residents have a great experience from choosing their meal right through to the last cup of tea! Your role will include:

  • Taking residents' meal orders and helping them make choices where needed, particularly residents living with dementia or other cognitive challenges.
  • Setting tables and creating a welcoming, comfortable and enjoyable dining environment.
  • Serving meals at the correct temperature and ensuring food is presented to a high standard.
  • Encouraging residents to enjoy their meals and offering suitable alternatives when needed.
  • Supporting residents with their individual dining preferences and requirements.
  • Delivering and collecting crockery, cutlery and other dining equipment.
  • Washing crockery, cutlery, cooking and serving utensils and kitchen equipment.
  • Keeping dining and kitchen areas clean, tidy and welcoming in line with COSHH and hygiene requirements.
  • Following all relevant health and safety, food hygiene and infection control procedures.
  • Working closely with the care team to make sure residents' individual needs, preferences and dietary requirements are understood and supported.
  • Working closely with the Head Chef and wider team to ensure mealtimes run smoothly.
  • Carrying out other reasonable duties as requested by the Home Manager or Head Chef.

  • Previous experience of working in a similar position is essential to be successful
  • Previous experience in a care home environment is ideal, however candidates with a hotel/restaurant background are also encouraged to apply
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a team, a caring nature and a positive attitude
  • An understanding of Health and Safety, Infection Control and COSHH

  • £12.71 per hour + 50p per hour weekend enhancement
  • 38 hours per week 4 shifts over 7 days 8:00am - 6:00pm,
