Job summary

Prime Life is looking for a Kitchen Assistant based at Peaker Park Care Village in Market Harborough to support residents with dignified dining experiences and meal preparation. Regular set shifts across a 7-day week are offered with comprehensive benefits.

You should be genuinely caring, with a willingness to train in hygiene and catering. Prior cook experience is welcome; DBS is fully funded and there are opportunities to progress within the Quality Matters team.

Qualifications

• Genuine caring nature and desire to make a real difference for residents.
• Experience as a cook; Food Hygiene and/or Catering qualification preferred but not essential as training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals, snacks and beverages in line with residents' dietary requirements.
• Undertake quality checks on food and storage.
• Assist with food service to provide a dignified dining experience.
• Maintain stock records and order stock as needed.
• Keep kitchen hygienic and tidy; assist with deep cleaning tasks.

Thisrole will be based at Peaker Park Care Village, in the heart of Market Harborough. The Care Village has been specially designed to cater tothe everyneed of 137 residents, living with a range of age related health conditions, physical disabilities and mental health conditions that require dignified support from our caring team. Additionally, many of our residents are living with Dementia and may also require one to one personal support to maintain their daily independence. It is essential that candidates for this role are therefore patient, understanding and respectful of our resident’s individual abilities.

Responsibilities of our Kitchen Assistant include:

• Preparing meals, snacks and beverages in line with our residents’ dietary requirements
• Undertaking quality checks on food prepared and food being stored
• Assisting with food service to allow our residents a dignified dining experience
• Maintaining stock records in line with company policy and food safety regulations
• Ordering stock and maintaining accurate records
• Maintaining a hygienic and tidy kitchen and supporting with deep cleaning tasks

What we’re looking for in our Kitchen Assistant:

To be successful within this role, you will have a genuine caring nature and a desire to make a real difference for our residents. You will be an experienced Cook, ideally holding a Food Hygiene and/or Catering qualification, though this is not essential as Prime Life can support you with the training necessary for this role.
