Job description

Digitalisation Intern

Join us in pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare. For everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably.

Our inspiring and caring environment forms a global community that celebrates diversity and individuality. We encourage you to step beyond your comfort zone, offering resources and flexibility to foster your professional and personal growth, all while valuing your unique contributions.

At Siemens Healthineers Magnet Technology in Oxfordshire we are a world leader in the design and manufacture of superconducting MRI magnets for medical applications. We are proud to develop truly innovative technology and continue to push the boundaries to make MRI systems more accessible worldwide.

You’ll join our Digitalisation team and support projects across the business, exploring how digital tools, automation and data can be used to improve processes and help our teams work more effectively. You’ll have the opportunity to take on real responsibility during your year in industry, while developing your technical and professional skills through practical experience and our structured Intern Development Programme.

All of our interns also participate in our structured 12-month Intern Development Programme, developing professional skills such as communication, teamwork and commercial awareness alongside the technical experience gained within the role.

In this role you will:
  • Contribute to digitalisation projects across the business, helping to improve processes and ways of working.
  • Support our Digital Project Managers with the coordination and tracking of project requirements and actions.
  • Use Microsoft 365 technologies such as Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI to help improve and digitalise business processes.
  • Potentially have the opportunity to work with technologies such as SQL Server and Python for more complex data aggregation and analysis, dependent on project.
  • Work with colleagues across the business to understand challenges and explore how digital solutions, automation and data could help address them.
  • Support our wider digital transformation by helping teams improve processes and make better use of digital tools and data.

You will be based mainly at our Bicester site, with the opportunity to spend time at our 2nd facility in Eynsham as part of your role. You’ll be working with teams at both locations and gaining unique insight into how a large-scale business manages the ramp-up of our new facility while maintaining day-to-day delivery.

Work Experience
  • You will be an undergraduate student currently studying towards a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Software Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science or a related subject, and looking to complete a 12-month placement as part of your degree.
  • You’ll have an interest in areas such as digitalisation, programming, data analytics, automation, machine learning or AI, with relevant experience gained through your studies, projects or personal interests welcomed.
  • You should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an interest in using technology to solve real-world problems.
  • You’ll be comfortable using Microsoft 365 applications and interested in developing your experience with digital tools.
  • You’ll have good communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • You should be organised, self‑motivated and proactive, with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Some experience of programming, data analysis or digital tools through your studies, projects or personal interests would be beneficial, but is not essential.

You must also have eligibility to work in the UK for the duration of the internship (Summer 2027–Summer 2028), as we are unable to offer sponsorship for internship roles.

Benefits
  • 26 days' holiday with the option to buy or sell an additional 5 days
  • Up to 10% employer pension contribution
  • Share and bonus scheme
  • Access to our flexible benefits from private medical insurance to dental cover
  • Corporate Social Responsibility opportunities including 2 paid volunteering days per year and support from our 24/7 employee assistance programme
