The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) is seeking an experienced Digital Training Products Manager to lead the operational oversight of the RCGP Trainee Portfolio, the digital platform used by more than 17,000 GP trainees, trainers and GP schools across the UK to support learning, assessment and progression throughout GP specialty training.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a business-critical digital service at the heart of GP training. Working across internal teams, stakeholders and our platform supplier, FourteenFish, you will act as the day-to-day RCGP product lead for the Portfolio, ensuring that the service is well-managed, responsive to user needs and positioned for future improvement.

About the role

This role combines service management, stakeholder engagement, product ownership and service improvement.

Over a six-month period, you will:

  • Lead the day-to-day coordination and oversight of the Trainee Portfolio service.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, trainees, educators, deaneries and the platform supplier.
  • Identify and investigate operational and service challenges, establishing their root causes and developing sustainable solutions.
  • Coordinate communications, issue management, service changes and improvement activity.
  • Develop practical processes and ways of working that can be embedded into business-as-usual arrangements.
  • Deliver a structured improvement plan and clear handover at the end of the appointment.

While not a technical or software development role, you will act as the link between users, stakeholders and the platform supplier, ensuring that priorities are understood, issues are addressed and improvements are delivered effectively.

About you

We are looking for someone who combines strong organisational and relationship-management skills with experience of managing digital products, services or business-critical systems.

You will have:

  • Experience of managing or coordinating a digital service, product or complex operational system.
  • Experience of investigating issues, working with users and suppliers, and coordinating solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, risks and improvement activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement practical improvements.

This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on a nationally important digital service used throughout GP specialty training. As well as maintaining and supporting the service, you will have the opportunity to identify challenges, improve ways of working, and leave behind sustainable processes that will benefit trainees, educators and GP training programmes across the UK.

The successful candidate will share our corporate values. In return, the College offers excellent terms and conditions and great working environment.

The Royal College of General Practitioners is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
