Role Summary and Impact
Job title: Digital Operations Manager
Reporting to: Digital Operations Director
Location: WPP Media: Wavemaker, London
Role Context
The Digital Operations Manager:
- Is the primary manager of services for accounts in day-to-day digital operations activities.
- Supports the Digital Operations Leadership Team to ensure smooth BAU running of all accounts, and that all team services, knowledge, and capabilities meet client needs.
- Is a key escalation point for all stakeholders.
- Implements key strategies, onboard new business, and provides team training on operational processes and tools.
- Highly knowledgeable about our clients' Ad-tech platforms and partners.
The Digital Operations Manager's role is to:
- Manage key accounts and serve as a point for escalation, knowledge, and leadership for clients, with extensive experience in trafficking digital campaigns using ad server platforms (Google Campaign Manager 360, Flashtalking, etc.).
- Ensure best-in-class services by developing team skills and knowledge.
- Act as a coach and mentor to team members.
- Drive an agile working environment and adapt to industry developments.
- Provide insights into ad tech effectiveness and drive improvements and growth across accounts.
Core Responsibilities
Client Services:
- Lead the team in implementing advertising campaigns within agreed timelines.
- Maintain flexible, best-in-class customer services, workflows, and tools.
- Review and improve processes for efficiency and client requirements.
- Understand client businesses, KPIs, markets, and implementation needs.
- Enhance team capabilities based on client needs.
- Serve as an expert advisor in advertising/marketing technology and operations.
Specialist Knowledge:
- Lead partnerships with stakeholders and vendors to deliver new technologies and services.
- Manage specialist tools related to trafficking, tagging, tracking, and web analytics.
- Act as a key escalation point and champion team services across stakeholders.
People Management:
- Manage, coach, and mentor team members to reach their potential.
- Lead performance reviews, feedback, and training initiatives.
- Foster a high-performing, customer-centric team culture that supports work-life balance and recognizes achievements.
New Business:
- Lead onboarding of new clients, including tech stack setup.
- Lead relevant projects and product launches as per team strategy and business needs.
- Ensure uptake and utilization of WPP Media proprietary tools and platforms across the team and clients.
Skills and Experience
Required:
- Proven experience in media agency, publisher, data, tech industry, or technology vendor, with strong knowledge of ad servers (CM360 is essential).
- Experience in team leadership or mentorship in an ad operations or media environment.
- Project management skills in technical or media-related fields.
- Passion for digital operations and relevant technologies.
- Experience in client liaison and account management.
- Ability to investigate, document, and resolve complex technical queries.
- Experience delivering complex technical implementations across multiple platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for online ad campaigns.
- Structured approach to QA, implementation, and testing of campaigns.
- Knowledge of Javascript, HTML, or CSS is a bonus.
Desired (Not required):
- Certifications in Google Campaign Manager, Amazon Ads, Flashtalking, or other ad platforms.
- Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics/Launch certification.
- Tag Management System certification, especially Google Tag Manager.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
