Job description

Kilburn & Strode is one of Europe’s pre-eminent intellectual property firms. We act for UK, US and European clients at the forefront of their sectors on their most challenging, business-critical IP matters – from EPO and Unified Patent Court proceedings to M&A due diligence, strategic portfolio management and high-value prosecution. We have offices in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and the US.

We’re a certified B Corporation™ that looks forward, not back. We have a clear five-year strategy and an ambition to be the market leader in premium IP work by 2030. Our values – be curious, think commercially, act collaboratively, take ownership, make a positive impact – are not a poster on a wall. They shape how we work and who we hire.

The Clients and Markets function

Our ambition for Clients and Markets is straightforward: to become the commercial engine of this firm’s growth. Not a support function. Not a planning exercise. A function that generates momentum, creates opportunities and helps the firm win the premium clients and work it deserves. The function covers both BD and marketing, and the two sides work closely together to deliver a coherent experience for partners, clients and contacts.

The role

This is a broad, hands-on digital marketing role sitting at the heart of the Clients and Markets team. You will work closely with the Marketing Manager across digital channels, content production, analytics and campaign execution – making sure the firm’s marketing activity is well-produced, well-distributed and consistently on brand.

This is not a narrow specialist role. You will move between writing and editing content, managing social media, supporting campaigns, maintaining the website and producing reports on what is and isn’t working. You must be at ease switching between tasks, taking ownership of your workload and delivering to a high standard without close supervision.

The role suits someone with two to four years of marketing experience in a professional services environment who is ready to take on broader responsibility and develop across multiple disciplines. You will have direct access to senior marketing professionals and real exposure to how a commercial marketing function operates.

Key relationships
  • Marketing Manager – your line manager and primary day-to-day relationship
  • Clients and Markets Operations Lead – close collaboration on digital channel performance, analytics and website
  • Senior BD Managers – coordination on campaign timing, thought leadership distribution and BD-facing content
  • Events Executive – close collaboration on event promotion, digital communications and pre- and post-event content
  • Partners and fee earners – supporting content development, coordinating approvals.
Responsibilities
Digital channels and social media
  • Manage the firm’s LinkedIn presence day to day – scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, responding as appropriate and maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  • Create social media tiles and visual assets for digital channels – using tools such as Canva or Adobe to produce on-brand graphics that support content and campaigns.
  • Support the management of other digital channels including email marketing – building and sending campaigns, managing lists and tracking performance.
  • Monitor channel performance across social media, email and the website, producing regular reports that highlight what is working, what is not and what should change.
  • Stay close to developments in digital marketing and social media, bringing fresh ideas and platform knowledge to the team.
Content production and thought leadership
  • Support the Marketing Manager in producing and distributing thought leadership content – drafting, editing, formatting & publishing articles, briefings and social posts.
  • Work with partners and fee earners to develop content ideas, gather input and manage the editorial process from brief to publication.
  • Maintain the firm’s content calendar, tracking what is planned, what is in progress and what has been published.
  • Ensure all content is on brand, well-written and appropriate for the target audience before it is published.
Website
  • Support day-to-day website management – publishing content, updating pages and flagging anything that needs attention.
  • Work with the Clients and Markets Operations Lead on website performance monitoring, flagging issues and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the website reflects current firm activity, with thought leadership, news and profiles kept up to date.
Campaigns and events
  • Support the planning and execution of marketing campaigns – coordinating assets, managing timelines and tracking delivery against the marcomms calendar.
  • Support the Events Executive on event promotion – producing invitations, managing digital communications and coordinating pre- and post-event content.
  • Contribute to awards submissions and directories activity where marketing input is needed.
Reporting and analytics
  • Produce regular performance reports across digital channels – social media, email and website – in a format that is clear and useful for the Marketing Manager and Director.
  • Track content performance and flag what is resonating with target audiences and what is not.
  • Support the development of the team’s broader reporting framework as it is built out by the Clients and Markets Operations Lead.
What we need
  • Strong writing and editing skills. You produce clear, well-structured content and you notice when something is not quite right. You take pride in the quality of your work.
  • Good working knowledge of LinkedIn and digital marketing channels. You understand how social media works in a B2B context and have managed or contributed to a firm’s social presence.
  • Organised and reliable. You manage your own workload, hit deadlines and follow through on actions without being chased.
  • Comfortable with data and reporting. You can pull performance data from digital platforms, interpret what it means and present it clearly.
  • A collaborative working style. You share information, ask when you are unsure and work well as part of a small team.
  • Genuine interest in developing across multiple marketing disciplines rather than specialising narrowly at this stage of your career.
  • Experience managing or contributing to a website CMS – publishing content, updating pages and basic site maintenance.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms – building campaigns, managing lists and reporting on performance.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools such as Google Analytics or LinkedIn Analytics.
  • Proficiency in Canva or Adobe design tools for producing simple social media graphics and digital assets.
  • Experience with CRM or marketing automation platforms such as HubSpot.
Personal attributes
  • Curious and proactive. You spot things that could be better and you do something about it rather than waiting to be asked.
  • Detail-oriented. You care about quality and consistency in everything you produce.
  • Energetic and positive. You bring good energy to the team and take the work seriously without taking yourself too seriously.
  • Ambitious. You want to further develop your marketing skills across multiple disciplines and see this role as a platform to do that.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. This function is still being built and priorities can shift. You adapt without losing focus.
