Job summary

Johnson Controls in Stockport, UK, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, maintain and optimise digital manufacturing systems supporting production of fire suppression sprinklers.

You will lead digital transformation, improve performance through data-driven decisions and identify automation opportunities. You will work with cross-functional teams and travel to other Johnson Controls sites as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Experience developing digital manufacturing, automation, or industrial control systems.
• Strong SPC understanding with control charts.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs and industrial automation systems.
• Microsoft Power Platform experience (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
• Knowledge of CNC environments and automated production processes.
• Experience with Fanuc robotics; troubleshooting and programming.
• Willingness to travel to other Johnson Controls sites.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.
• Industry 4.0 data analytics and performance monitoring experience.
• Experience preparing technical specs and procurement supports.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement OEE monitoring and data collection systems across CNC and automated assembly equipment.
• Analyse manufacturing data to identify productivity improvements and reduce downtime.
• Modify and troubleshoot PLC-controlled automated machinery.
• Evaluate processes and identify automation opportunities with cross-functional teams.
• Act as site Digital Lead to drive digital transformation projects.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to align projects with business goals.
• Recommend hardware and software upgrades to improve performance.
• Troubleshoot, program and reteach Fanuc robotic systems.
• Provide technical support for electrical, controls and automation issues.
• Support best-practice manufacturing engineering principles and process improvements.
