Job summary

The New York Times Company seeks a staff editor to join our Home team in the London newsroom. You will help program and present our digital platforms, including the home screen and push notifications, in line with strategic goals.

You will stay on top of breaking news, recalibrate presentation, and ensure Times standards. The role is permanent and hybrid in London with weekly in-office attendance, including at least one weekend day.

Qualifications

• Experience as a digital news editor or equivalent.
• Ability to use audience data to inform programming decisions.
• Excellent news judgment and writing mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Master the production tools and workflows for home screens and push notifications.
• Write lively headlines, summaries and captions in Times style.
• Handle fast-moving breaking news presentations and layout changes.
• Build and execute special home screen presentations and push notifications.
• Collaborate with product and CMS teams to provide insights for tools and platforms.
• Demonstrate commitment to journalistic independence and Times mission.
• Leverage audience data to assess story performance and competitor strategies.
• Maintain high standards of visual design and user experience.
• Work well under pressure with multiple editors and supervisors.
• Attend office regularly as part of a hybrid London-based role.
