Job overview

The eNurse Lead role will be the clinical nurse lead in the implementation of digital programmes within SLaM. This will encompass the engagement of clinical staff in capturing requirements, clinical flows, and the provision of professional advice to the implementation teams enabling the use of digital technology to be embedded into clinical practice.

The post holder will work closely with clinical teams to promote the uptake of digital technology and clinical adoption across the Trust and direct project teams as required in identifying, evaluating, and coordinating developments with associated clinical digital systems and devices. This will include validating clinical content, liaising with appropriate Trust Clinical Groups and Services, and planning the utilization of the collected data to transform clinical safety and effectiveness within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The eNurse Lead role requires a strong clinical background and experience in teaching and training. The role will involve presentations and training sessions as well as providing clinical guidance to both the project team (in dealing with raised clinical issues) and to practitioners, supporting them to use digital technology in their clinical practice. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about how technology can be used in healthcare to improve outcomes, has an understanding of digital healthcare, and can provide clinical leadership to enable a successful project outcome.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The post holder will work as the clinical lead for the adoption and implementation of digital technology across the Trust. This will include reviewing current processes highlighting areas of duplication, redundancy, and opportunities for improved efficiencies.
  • The post holder will provide clinical guidance, training, and teaching to staff across the Trust to demonstrate the efficacy of adopting digital technology, providing clinical leadership to the project team. This will include participation at events, meetings, and other programmes/projects representing the various digital Projects.
  • The post holder will ensure that developments are coordinated with other nursing/clinical programmes so that dependencies are identified, and that strategic objectives are complemented and not prejudiced.
  • The post holder will validate and coordinate all communications between the project and clinical staff, liaising with Corporate and Digital Service Teams as appropriate.
  • Will undertake the evaluation, assessment, and baselining of current practice and develop plans to implement.
  • Assist with the testing ‘Sign-Off’ of the clinical appropriateness and usability of the technology, initially for Pilot readiness and then full trust roll-out. This will include identification of Pilot wards/teams and engagement with the relevant Managers/Medical teams ensuring they become part of the Clinical Delivery team.
  • The post holder will review the existing Benefits log and update and monitor qualitative and quantitative benefits which form part of the reporting framework to evidencing clinical benefits realization.
  • The post holder will contribute to clinical governance and responsibility for setting and monitoring standards in the use of digital technology to ensure projects are aligned to relevant clinical safety policies, using the clinical safety officer framework.
  • The post holder will participate and promote the interests of the digital projects in the areas of informatics and digital health both within and external to SLaM.
  • The post holder will participate in service/team evaluation and the planning of future service developments.
