Senior Clinical Fellow in Neonatal Medicine (ST4+ equivalent)

University College London Hospital NHS Trust (UCLH) is looking for qualified and enthusiastic applicants for the posts of Senior Clinical Fellows (ST6-8). This is an exciting opportunity to gain tertiary medical neonatal intensive care experience working in the heart of central London at UCLH. These appointments are for 12 months, working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UCLH.

The UCLH Neonatal unit is the primary referral centre for neonatal intensive care (a level 3 unit with 21 ITU and HDU cots) for the North Central London Perinatal Network, and provides a full range of intensive care for the sickest and most vulnerable babies. We specialise in Neonatal Neuro-Critical Care and we are a regional centre for therapeutic hypothermia (cooling). We work in partnership with our UCLH Fetal Medicine Unit, a regional, national and international referral centre for complex pregnancies, and the world renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), specialist paediatric hospital, to collaboratively care for babies with complex conditions.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will join the existing clinical, academic and multidisciplinary neonatal team, with an international reputation in excellent care and research. Successful candidates will be encouraged to contribute to high quality service development. Successful applicants will benefit from the Unit's extensive teaching programme and the excellent clinical experience on offer. We are now accredited in Australia for paediatric training.

Qualifications
  • oMBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • oMRCPCH or equivalent
  • oMSc or other higher degree
ELIGIBILITY
  • oPrevious experience of working at middle grade in paediatrics/ neonatology in the UK or at an equivalent level neonatal unit overseas
  • oEligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
  • oProfessional behaviour and probity
  • oEligibility to work in the UK
  • oFor nodal point 5 salary point, applicant should have at least 7 years post-registration clinical experience or post CCT, with relevant neonatal experience (or equivalent) to allow them to work in senior leadership role.
  • oPrevious experience in a neonatal tertiary centre
  • oExperience in a sub-speciality relevant to neonatal medicine
FITNESS TO PRACTICE
  • oIs up to date and fit to practice safely
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • oAll applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues which could be demonstrated by one of the following:
  • a)that applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English or
  • b)have the following scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (ELTS) - Overall 7, Speaking 7, Listening 6, Reading 6, Writing 6

  • oAbility to provide complete details of employment history and adequate career progression
