Job summary

DJH, in partnership with Thorne Widgery, is seeking a digital-first Bookkeeper to support a range of clients from Hereford using cloud-based accounting tools. You will manage day-to-day bookkeeping, streamline processes and help businesses make smarter decisions, with responsibilities including VAT returns and bank feeds.

You should have at least 2 years of bookkeeping experience, be tech-confident, and able to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' bookkeeping experience in practice or industry.
• Proficiency with cloud-based accounting software; Dext experience a plus.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, VAT, and payroll compliance.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage client bookkeeping and accounts using cloud-based tools.
• Match purchase orders with invoices and reconcile accounts.
• Coordinate online bank feeds and processing payments.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Record financial transactions accurately and maintain up-to-date records.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to resolve accounting queries.
