DJH in Hereford is seeking a digital-first Bookkeeper to join our growing team at Thorne Widgery. You will manage client bookkeeping using cloud-based tools and ensure accurate records across VAT and payroll processes.

The role emphasizes independent work, strong communication with clients, and collaboration with colleagues to resolve queries and ensure smooth financial operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' bookkeeping experience in practice or industry.
• Proficiency with cloud-based accounting software and digital tools (Dext is a plus).
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, VAT, and payroll compliance.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage client bookkeeping and accounts using cloud-based tools.
• Match purchase orders with invoices and reconciling accounts.
• Coordinate online bank feeds and processing payments.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Record financial transactions accurately and maintain up-to-date records.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to resolve accounting queries.
