Job summary

DCS (Empowerment) CIC is seeking an experienced Digital Empowerment & Employability Trainer to deliver the Midlife Digital Empowerment and Employability Programme for adults aged 50+, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

Delivery is primarily face-to-face across South London boroughs with four live online sessions per cohort; you will teach, coach and empower learners with varying digital confidence and career goals.

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching/training qualification required or equivalent.
• Experience delivering employability and digital skills to adults.
• Experience with mixed-ability groups and adult learners.

Responsibilities

• Deliver practical, interactive sessions covering digital skills, CV writing and interview prep.
• Coach and empower learners, developing Digital and Employability Action Plans.
• Facilitate both in-person and live online delivery and maintain learner records.

Rate: £35 per hour

Contract: Sessional / Freelance

Location: Across South London boroughs

Delivery: Primarily face-to-face, plus 4 live online sessions per cohort

About the Role

DCS (Empowerment) CIC is looking for an experienced, engaging and supportive Digital Empowerment & Employability Trainer to deliver our Midlife Digital Empowerment and Employability Programme for adults aged 50+, funded by Reaching Communities from The National Lottery Community Fund.

Our learners have different levels of digital confidence, employment experience and personal goals. Some are returning to work after a career break or unemployment, some are considering a career change, while others may be progressing towards volunteering, further training or new opportunities.

We need a trainer who can teach, coach, motivate and empower – not simply deliver slides.

What You’ll Deliver

You will deliver practical and interactive sessions covering areas such as:

• Digital skills and confidence
• Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
• CV writing, job searching and online applications
• Interview preparation and mock interviews
• Transferable skills and career planning
• LinkedIn and professional online presence
• Ethical and practical use of AI tools, including ChatGPT
• Digital wellbeing, online safety and cyber security
• SMART goals and individual action planning
• Employment, volunteering, further learning and progression opportunities

You will also support learners to develop and review their individual Digital and Employability Action Plans and identify realistic next steps.

Who We’re Looking For

You should have:

• A recognised teaching/training qualification such as AET, PTLLS, PGCE, CertEd or equivalent
• Experience delivering employability, digital skills, adult education or community learning
• Experience working with adult learners and mixed-ability groups
• Confidence delivering CV, job search, application and interview support
• Knowledge of current recruitment practices and digital job searching
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, LinkedIn, online job platforms and AI tools
• Confidence delivering both face-to-face and live online sessions
• Good administration, learner tracking and record-keeping skills

*Experience working with mature adults, returners to the labour market, DWP/Jobcentre Plus programmes, digital inclusion or publicly funded programmes would be an advantage.

Travel & Delivery Requirements

not a fully remote role

Delivery takes place primarily face-to-face at community venues across South London boroughs, so applicants must be willing and able to travel for programme delivery.

Ideally, we are looking for a trainer who has the flexibility to deliver across at least three South London boroughs, although we welcome applications from strong candidates who may currently be able to cover fewer locations.

Each cohort also includes 4 live online sessions, so you must be confident delivering engaging virtual learning, including screen sharing and live digital demonstrations.
