Job summary

Airbus offers a Digital Degree Apprenticeship in Filton, Bristol, combining a full BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions with paid work experience over four years. You will study at Weston College (UCW) and have your degree accredited by the University of the West of England, while applying skills directly in aircraft design, testing and manufacturing.

You will contribute to innovative software and work across multiple phases of the development lifecycle, collaborating with engineers

Qualifications

• 3 A-Levels as grade C/4 or above, preferably in Maths, Sciences and IT
• OR T Level in an IT/Digital subject at Merit or above
• OR BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in an IT/Digital subject, at minimum MMM grade
• AND Minimum of 4 GCSEs including English Language and Maths - Grade 4/C or above
• Note: undergraduate degrees in computing/IT are not eligible

Responsibilities

• Contributing to new and innovative software used in aircraft design, testing or optimization processes
• Working on software solutions to support design & manufacturing of physical aircraft as well as in-service aircraft
• Participate in all phases of the application development life cycle including research and design, development, testing, implementation and support
• Interface with engineers and IT specialists to provide solutions to business needs

What you will be doing

Our Digital Degree Apprenticeship offers a full degree with no fees, plus vocational training with a regular salary. Airbus is leading the way with this unique 4 year programme through which you will achieve a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions. You will be studying via our training partner, Weston College (UCW), and your degree will be accredited by the University of the West of England. Your industry based work takes place at our world leading aircraft manufacturer site in Filton, Bristol.

Key activities of the industry based work of this apprenticeship include:

• Contributing to new and innovative software which is used in the overall aircraft design, testing or optimization processes
• Working on software solutions to support design & manufacturing of physical aircraft as well as in-service aircraft
• Participate in all phases of the application development life cycle including research and design, development, testing, implementation and support
• Interface with engineers and IT specialists to provide solutions to business needs

Requirements

In order to be eligible for this apprenticeship you must have a minimum:

• 3 A-Levels as grade C/4 or above, preferably in Maths, Sciences and IT
• OR T Level in an IT/Digital subject at Merit or above
• OR BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in an IT/Digital subject, at minimum MMM grade
• OR Equivalent qualifications/Experience subject to validation
• AND Minimum of 4 GCSEs including English Language and Maths - Grade 4/C or above

Please note that, due to the funded nature of this programme, applicants with undergraduate degrees in computing/IT are not eligible.

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate the following:

• Submit your CV stating your grades and if they are predicted or achieved
• Submit a Cover Letter highlighting your passion and suitability for this apprenticeship
• Enjoys solving mathematical or science problems through coding
• Some previous experience of coding and/or Linux/cloud
• The ability to work well in a team

• Ability to manage problems, communicating effectively to resolve them in a fast-paced environment

GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the position’s requirements before the apprenticeship start date.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
