Job summary

Tesco Stores Limited in the UK seeks a Product Analytics and Experimentation specialist to partner with CX product teams across online shopping journeys. You’ll design analytics tracking, define success metrics, and deliver insights to improve digital experiences.

Based in London or Welwyn Garden City with some travel, the role focuses on data-driven decision making, SQL, Tableau, and Adobe Analytics to shape product roadmaps and KPIs. Join a world-class data environment at Tesco.

Qualifications

  • University degree 2:1 or higher in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong SQL skills for analysis and reporting.
  • Experience using Tableau for data storytelling and dashboards.
  • Experience with Adobe Analytics or similar tools to analyse digital journeys.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, UX, business teams and engineers to prioritise initiatives.
  • Define product objectives and key results; set and report targets.
  • Design analytics tracking and health metrics; improve data quality with engineering.
  • Address defined problems with a data-driven approach.
  • Deliver analytics on the digital customer journey and KPIs.
  • Communicate results with clear textual, numeric, and visual formats.
  • Build and automate reporting on customer behaviour and KPIs.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams across the product lifecycle.

Job description

The Product Analytics and Experimentation team sits within the Data, Analytics and AI directorate in the Technology department. Our mission is to deliver insightful and actionable data through reporting, analysis, and experimentation, with a focus on establishing best-practice processes and enabling data-driven decision making across all supported product teams. The team supports a variety of digital products, among which are the Tesco Groceries & Clubcard app, self-checkout tills in stores, and the Search and Recommenders APIs.

The position can be based either in our office in Farringdon, London, or in our head office in Welwyn Garden City, with some occasional travel to the other office required.

This role is within the Online Customer Experience Product Analytics team. You’ll partner with CX product teams across the Online shopping space – primarily focused on delivering improvements to the end-to-end digital experiences for a range of customer journeys and propositions. You could be working on analytics of the digital experience of what customers should see entering our site or app, improving search and browse shopping experiences to help customers find the right products, or even enabling customers to finish their shop through the most effortless and simple methods which work for them.

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities:

  • Build relationships and work closely with Product Managers, UX, business teams, and engineering. Help them prioritise, analyse product releases, and recommend opportunities in line with the product vision and roadmaps
  • Define product level objectives & key results, set and report on targets.
  • Design analytics tracking, health and success metrics. Improve data quality and coverage in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
  • Take defined problems and identify data driven approach to validate and solve them
  • Deliver analytics on the digital customer journey: gather and shape analytics requirements, define success metrics, validate hypotheses and assumptions, identify and validate sources of data, analyse customer behaviour, deliver insights and recommend opportunities to improve the product along its objectives.
  • Formulate and communicate results using high quality textual, numeric, and graphical methods appropriate to the target audience.
  • Build and automate reporting on customer behaviour, key results, and KPIs
  • Follow our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – articulate complex concepts to a diverse audience, and influence without authority.
  • Working effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and understanding how to contribute to the product development lifecycle.
  • Analysing digital customer journeys with strong commercial awareness
  • Intermediate SQL for analysis and reporting, combining multiple data sources
  • Storytelling with data using dashboard tools, preferably Tableau
  • Adobe Analytics or similar tools to analyse digital customer journeys and build custom segments
  • University degree of 2:1 or higher in a quantitative discipline or relevant experience
