The Role

As a Diesel Gas Path Engineer, you will support the development of engine/aftertreatment physical base system engineering. You will ensure functions adhere to specified engineering methods, computer tools, and aids. You will also support vehicle, domain, and other indirect team members' understanding of the integrated propulsion functions.

Your responsibilities:

  1. Work on robust requirements and ensure targets are delivered on-cycle to programmes.
  2. Develop and update system artifacts (MBSE models, use case analysis, LAD, FFA/DFMEA/DRBFM, DVP, requirements, standards) off-cycle and on-cycle as required.
  3. Deliver new functions through statement of capability (SOC) and Feature statement of intent (FSOI) process.
  4. Identify, report, and resolve system compatibility issues efficiently.
  5. Chair technical reviews/forums and resolve complex cross-functional issues.
  6. Develop methods and conduct technical studies into future technologies.
  7. Analyze standard cycles such as emission tests and address related issues.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Relevant experience in developing electrified propulsion systems like MHEV, PHEV.
  • Strong background in Emissions/Gas Path/Aftertreatment.
  • Experience with emissions testing and engine calibration.
  • Knowledge of integrating core systems like Aftertreatment and Gas Path.
  • Hands-on experience calibrating diesel engines for emissions on dyno.
  • Understanding of emission regulations and calibration processes.
  • Knowledge of ICE engine chemistry and sensor control.
  • Experience with CAE tools, vehicle propulsion, and subsystems modeling (e.g., Simulink).
  • Experience in defining test cases and DoE for HIL, PIL, VIL, and vehicle environments.
  • Full UK or equivalent driving license.
  • Proficiency in 8D problem resolution and 6 sigma data analysis.
  • Good communication skills and team-oriented mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or automotive engineering.
  • Previous experience in emission calibration and powertrain systems engineering.
  • Understanding of MHEV systems and calibration across test cycles.
