Job summary

Autotech Recruit is seeking a Diagnostic Technician in Poole for a leading automotive retailer. The role offers a four-day working week (10-hour shifts) with a Saturday morning rota and uncapped bonus potential, plus ongoing manufacturer training and clear career progression.

You will diagnose, service and repair complex mechanical and electrical faults, maintain health checks, and ensure quality workmanship in a modern dealership environment with strong earning potential.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ or equivalent automotive qualification.
• Previous diagnostic technician experience in dealership/workshop.
• Strong fault-finding across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience using manufacturer diagnostic tools and software.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and maintenance to manufacturer standards.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Produce accurate diagnostic reports and health checks.
• Complete repairs and MOT-related work to high standard.
• Service and repair vehicle air conditioning systems.
• Order and manage parts to complete repairs efficiently.
• Maintain workshop documentation and job cards.
• Communicate findings and updates to customers as needed.
• Ensure health, safety and quality standards.

A leading automotive retailer is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician to join its established workshop team in Poole. Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and maintenance in line with manufacturer standards.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Perform comprehensive vehicle health checks and produce accurate diagnostic reports.
• Complete general repairs and MOT-related work to a high standard.
• Service and repair vehicle air conditioning systems.
• Carry out welding and fabrication repairs where required.
• Order and manage parts required to complete repairs efficiently.
• Accurately complete job cards and workshop documentation.
• Communicate diagnostic findings and repair updates when necessary.
• Adhere to workshop processes, health and safety procedures and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and productive working environment.

Requirements

• Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent automotive qualification.
• Previous experience working as a Diagnostic Technician within a dealership or professional workshop environment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
• Experience using manufacturer diagnostic equipment and software.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet productivity targets and deadlines.
• Commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
