Job summary

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 3 Health Care/Podiatry Assistant to join the Diabetes Foot Clinic in London. The role involves assisting the podiatry team in busy outpatient and inpatient settings, supporting patient care and ensuring a safe clinical environment.

Responsibilities include simple dressings, wound care, capillary glucose testing, venepuncture, ECG and vital signs monitoring, along with clinical documentation and audits under supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience as Health Care or Podiatry Assistant in a clinical setting.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Competence in basic clinical procedures as described in the role.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside podiatrists to provide high-quality care to patients in the Diabetes Foot Clinic.
• Prepare patients for clinical assessments and assist during treatment.
• Undertake clinical skills within competency, including observations, glucose monitoring, ECGs and wound care.
• Support patient assessment, care planning and health promotion under supervision.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and up-to-date patient records.
• Contribute to clinical audits, research and service improvement.
• Ensure a safe, clean, stocked clinical environment and maintain equipment.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of care.
• Develop clinical skills through training, supervision and CPD.
