Job description

We have an fantastic fixed term (12 months) opportunity available within our team.

The post holder will join our established multi-disciplinary specialist team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

The diabetes team work 6 days a week (including weekends) to provide expert diabetes nursing care and to facilitate safe weekend discharges.

The current team provide specialist diabetes care across 4 divisions within both inpatient and outpatient services within the Bristol site.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who will be committed to developing services to ensure people with diabetes receive high quality care.

Main duties of the job

You will need an in-depth clinical knowledge of diabetes, which should be supported by recent experience/qualifications and the ability to initiate and titrate injectable treatments and oral diabetes medications competently.

Experience in most aspects of diabetes care and the ability to work autonomously within a supportive multidisciplinary diabetes team is essential. You will have on going responsibility for a patient caseload and will be expected to make informed clinical decisions, working within a comprehensive range of services including a large ante natal and insulin pump service.

The post holder will be line managed by the Lead diabetes CNS.

Education and Qualifications
  • Current NMC Registration
  • 1st Degree in nursing or health related subject
  • Relevant accredited post registration at level 3
