Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, professional, and experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our excellent Nursing Team at Brockworth Surgery. The ideal candidate will be experienced in diabetes management, willing to learn, able to take on responsibilities, and have a good team spirit. We are looking for the candidate to work around 20 hours or more per week.

About Us

Brockworth Surgery is a practice based in Gloucestershire caring for over 11,000 patients. We are a teaching practice with a team comprising 4 GP Partners, 6 salaried GPs, 1 Lead Practice Nurse, 2 part-time Practice Nurses, 1 Nurse Associate, 3 Healthcare Assistants, and a Phlebotomist. Our multidisciplinary team also includes Mental health practitioners, Pharmacists, Care Co-ordinators, and Social Prescribers. We foster a strong team ethic to ensure high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Run Diabetes clinics, review blood tests, manage medications, promote lifestyle changes, and coordinate referrals to diabetes services.
  • Work alongside the diabetes practice nurse.
  • Access to PCN specialist diabetes consultant clinics.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • NMC registered nurse.

Desirable:

  • Non-medical prescribing qualification.
Skills

Essential:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Effective team working.
  • Confidentiality maintenance.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility in working hours.
  • Friendly and approachable manner.
Experience

Essential:

  • Experience as a Practice Nurse or in Diabetes specialty.
  • IT literacy, experience with SystmOne.
  • Diabetes modules or diplomas.

Desirable:

  • Chronic disease management experience.
  • Immunisation experience.
  • Cytology experience.
