An exciting opportunity as a Diabetes Specialist Maternity Support Worker with the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. You will support women with diabetes, managing care plans and providing direct patient care within a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates will have a Level 3 vocational qualification in maternity support and possess strong communication and teamwork skills.

You will assist and support the diabetes team to provide an effective and efficient service to women with diabetes, their families and carers and other health care professionals involved in their care.
You will plan appointments, communicate diagnosis and ongoing care plans with the women within our care as well as provide direct care for these women.
You will independently plan tasks and workload activities whilst ensuring that your practice is guided by standard operating procedures and established protocols. Your practice will reflect the principles of woman and family centred care. It will demonstrate self-directed development, recognising your own limitations, and work within the scope of the role at all times.
You will prioritise your own workload and be responsible for planned care and tasks delegated from a registered practitioner.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Healthcare Support Worker to support the Diabetes Midwifery team within the maternity service at Saint Mary's hospital, Wythenshawe.
The role will encompass Maternal observations, venepuncture & supporting Midwives and doctors in their clinical roles. You will educate women to manage their diabetes and become familiar with the use of specialised equipment.You will have excellent interpersonal skills as you will be working closely with the women and their families in the unit. You will also be required to assist the multidisciplinary team in both daily tasks and will support the running of the Diabetes Clinic
Candidates should expect to work Monday - Friday only.
