Job description

The Tesco Mobile Engineering team is a cross-functional team responsible for both software development and the operation of tailored and product/SaaS-based IT solutions.

We are a diverse team of highly motivated individuals working on business-critical infrastructure management across sprints and various technologies, providing significant benefits to the wider business.

As part of the Run and Operate Chapter, which manages platforms and infrastructure for Tesco Mobile, this role is within the DevSecOps squad, working under the squad lead. The squad manages infrastructure powering engineering systems and applications, including software development tools and pipelines.

The Squad includes:

• DevSecOps Engineers - AWS
• DevSecOps Engineers - Azure
• Kubernetes Engineers
• Platform Automation Engineers
• Product Owner
• QA Automation Engineers

As a DevSecOps Engineer, your responsibilities include managing and deploying environments securely and efficiently, overseeing logging and SIEM, coordinating with application teams to resolve issues, and integrating security checks into CI/CD pipelines. You will validate changes for compliance and collaborate with the Tesco Mobile Cyber Security Team.

Your key responsibilities:

• Be a team player and embody Tesco Mobile values.
• Work with the Chapter Lead to enhance infrastructure and application security.
• Define and refine security standards for infrastructure.
• Serve as the domain authority for infrastructure security.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize logging and insights.
• Participate in solving complex technical problems across the business.
• Create business justifications for security improvements and present to stakeholders clearly.
• Share knowledge within the squad.

Minimum requirements include significant experience in security operations management, cloud providers (mainly Azure), task automation with PowerShell or Azure CLI, experience with Azure Security Hub, Terraform, and a willingness to learn new skills.

Nice to have skills include experience with AWS, source code management (GitHub), Splunk, CI/CD pipelines, code security techniques, automation tools, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools.
