Summary

This long-established company is looking for a Data Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. Your responsibilities will include ETL processes for data integration, migration to a new cloud environment, data feed/pipeline management, database management and maintenance, among other tasks. Their entire data environment is now cloud-based, primarily using Microsoft technologies.

The role is offered on an almost remote basis, with one visit per year to their Manchester office.

The Role

We seek an individual eager to share expertise with junior team members, collaborate with stakeholders to align business goals, and communicate effectively.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to align Data Engineering and Business Intelligence with strategic goals.
• Design and develop data system architecture, including data warehouses, integration processes, and data modeling.
• Implement and optimize ETL processes for data integration.
• Establish data governance, protection, and retention policies.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries.
• Gather requirements and provide technical guidance.
• Mentor junior team members and provide leadership.
• Assist in resource allocation and project management to ensure timely delivery.

Technical Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse methodology, ETL processes, etc.
• Experience with Azure cloud solutions.
• Experience with DataBricks / Data Factory is highly advantageous.
