Job summary

Netcompany, Leeds, United Kingdom, is seeking a DevOps Engineer (Python) to implement and support improvements, efficiency, and software quality to accelerate delivery times. You will join a multi-disciplinary team including Development, QA, IT Operations, Infosec, and UCD, focusing on automation and best DevOps practices.

The role requires hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Jenkins, and Python scripting, along with GitOps and monitoring tools.

Qualifications

• Experience as a DevOps Engineer with strong automation focus.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and CI/CD pipeline creation/maintenance.
• Practical experience using Terraform, Kubernetes and Helm.
• Experience in Python scripting.
• Familiarity with multiple ecosystem databases and integrations.
• Experience with monitoring tools for reliability and performance.
• Strong understanding of container orchestration and package management with Kubernetes/Helm.
• Experience with AWS Cloud.
• CI/CD expertise, especially Jenkins.
• Database schema change management (Liquibase).
• Ability to write automation scripts in Python.
• Knowledge of GitOps principles.
• Proactive, automation-driven mindset and continuous improvement.

Job description

Responsible for implementing and supporting improvements, efficiency, enhancing software quality, and accelerate delivery times. Having the shared responsibility between development/operations with a focus on people, process, tolls that take a unified customer/user focus. In a multi-disciplinary team with Development, QA, IT Operations, Infosec, UCD etc. all working together to achieve a common goal of applying best practice in DevOps.

Key Responsibilities

• Experience of DevOps tooling, containers and containerisation
• Communication: Able to speak to stakeholders and be able to transfer business requirements into technical implementation
• Facilitate information/business knowledge: Able to act as a business SME and understand what the business needs and how to support this into an efficient DevOps team.
• Stakeholder Management: Able to negotiate and influence with stakeholders to ensure the service runs effectively and efforts are placed correctly.

Qualifications

• 3+ Years of experience as a DevOps Engineer
• Strong knowledge of AWS and CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance
• Practical experience using Terraform(IaC), Kubernetes and Helm
• Experience in Python
• Experienced with multiple ecosystem databases, architecture and integration
• Experience with monitoring tools to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Kubernetes & Helm: Strong understanding of container orchestration with Kubernetes and package management using Helm.
• Experience with AWS Cloud.
• CI/CD: Proficiency in setting up and maintaining pipelines, particularly with Jenkins.
• Database Management: Experience with schema change management (e.g., Liquibase).
• Scripting: Ability to write automation scripts in Python
• GitOps: Understanding of GitOps principles.
• Core Principles: A mindset focused on automation, proactive monitoring, continuous improvement, and defining best practices.
• Must have willingness to travel
• Must have the right to work in the UK
• Must be able to attain a UK Security Clearance
