Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support a secure, business-critical platform in AWS. The role emphasizes reliability, security and performance, with on-call rotation and a focus on automation and resilience.

Qualifications

• Strong AWS infrastructure and platform support experience.
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Docker experience with containerized apps.
• Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD implementation.
• Groovy scripting for pipelines.
• Linux and Windows administration.
• NGINX web server familiarity.
• PostgreSQL in EC2/RDS.
• Experience with AWS Transit Gateway and API Gateway.
• Elastic and Kibana for monitoring.
• CI/CD pipeline setup and maintenance.
• Incident management in secure/encrypted environments.
• Communicating with stakeholders effectively.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain AWS-hosted infrastructure and platform services.
• Manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Support containerized applications with Docker.
• Build, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab and Groovy.
• Monitor performance, availability, and health with Elastic and Kibana.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment and production issues.
• Support cloud networking including VPNs and OpenVPN.
• Administer Linux and Windows environments.
• Support PostgreSQL in EC2 and RDS.
• Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Manage platform patching, upgrades and security updates.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve automation and deployments.
• Participate in incident management and on-call support.
