Job summary

Anson McCade Pty in Manchester is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design and build secure, scalable AWS infrastructure from scratch, shaping CI/CD pipelines, automation, and platform engineering from day one. You will create IaC with Terraform, run Kubernetes-based platforms, implement monitoring and security best practices, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-growing team.

This remote-first role requires eligibility for UK Security Clearance and offers in-office presence twice a month,

Qualifications

• 5+ years' commercial experience in a DevOps/Platform Engineering role
• Strong hands-on experience designing and building AWS infrastructure
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Kubernetes and CI/CD

Salary: Up to £80,000 (depending on experience) + Benefits

Are you an AWS-focused DevOps Engineer who enjoys building cloud infrastructure from the ground up, rather than simply maintaining existing environments?

We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering bespoke software solutions for complex, large-scale programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on greenfield and evolving platforms, helping shape cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, automation, security, and platform engineering capabilities from day one.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing and building secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure from scratch
• Developing Infrastructure as Code solutions using tools such as Terraform
• Creating, deploying and managing Kubernetes-based platforms
• Building and improving automated CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Implementing monitoring, logging and observability solutions across cloud environments
• Driving infrastructure best practices around security, resilience, compliance and disaster recovery
• Optimising platforms for performance, availability and cost efficiency
• Troubleshooting complex infrastructure and deployment challenges
• Collaborating closely with software engineers, architects and technical stakeholders
• Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical leadership within the team

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years' commercial experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering or Cloud Engineering role
• Strong hands-on experience designing and building AWS infrastructure
• Proven experience creating cloud platforms and infrastructure, not just supporting existing environments
• Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
• Experience working with Kubernetes, Docker and containerised applications
• Strong CI/CD experience using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or Elastic Stack
• Experience delivering highly available, secure and resilient cloud solutions
• Familiarity with Agile delivery environments, including Scrum and Kanban
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Packer, Vault, Artifactory or Nexus
• Serverless technologies
• Mentoring or technical leadership responsibilities
