Job summary

TechShack is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join an Agile engineering team, delivering complex software solutions for government clients. This is a hands-on role focused on building, creating and improving environments, with emphasis on automation and scalable deployments.

The successful candidate will design and maintain AWS infrastructure, deploy Kubernetes clusters, and implement CI/CD pipelines using Terraform and Docker.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of commercial experience.
• Strong AWS experience.
• Hands-on Kubernetes, Terraform and Docker experience.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and automation.
• Ideally someone who started in software development before moving into DevOps.
• Experience building and operating cloud environments.

I’m currently supporting a specialist technology consultancy delivering complex software solutions across Central Government.

They’re looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join an Agile engineering team, working across large-scale programmes and helping to build new bespoke software solutions.

This is a hands-on DevOps role focused on building, creating and improving environments rather than purely operational work.

The role:

• Design, build and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure
• Deploy and manage Kubernetes environments
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated processes
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Work with Docker and containerised applications
• Build new environments and support the development of secure software products
• Improve infrastructure performance, availability and resilience
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues
• Work closely with developers, technical teams and customers

What we're looking for:

• Around 4–8 years' commercial experience
• Strong AWS experience
• Hands-on Kubernetes, Terraform and Docker experience
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and automation
• Ideally someone who started in software development before moving into DevOps
• Experience building and operating cloud environments

Location: Remote / home-based, with occasional travel to London
