Job summary

Lawes Consulting Group is recruiting a Field-Based Commercial Underwriter to support an established agency network across the Midlands. This technically demanding role offers autonomy across a broad commercial portfolio, including property and casualty risks with premiums from £35k to over £100k.

You will build deep relationships with partners, review and decide on complex risks, and help raise underwriting standards and profitability across the book through portfolio analysis and targeted

Qualifications

• Proven track record handling complex, higher-value commercial risks including premiums up to £100k, ideally within property and casualty lines.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance underwriting principles across a broad range of products and risk types.
• Comfortable working closely with agents and brokers, influencing decisions and building trusted professional relationships.
• Confidence in reviewing portfolio performance data, identifying trends and recommending improvements to support underwriting profitability.
