Vivid Resourcing Ltd in Chelmsford is seeking a Development Management Delivery Consultant to join on an interim basis. You will move a live caseload of planning applications from validation to determination, ensuring timely and well-reasoned decisions in line with policy.

You will assess proposals against national policy and local plan, engage with applicants and consultees, write clear reports, and manage your workload to statutory deadlines while supporting the wider planning team,

• Substantial experience in development management, handling a varied caseload of applications
• Sound knowledge of the National Planning Policy Framework, planning legislation and the decision-making process
• Ability to work independently, prioritise a busy workload and meet deadlines
• Strong report writing, negotiation and communication skills
• Confident use of planning case management systems
• Eligibility to work in the UK
• Able to work from the Chelmsford location

Responsabilidades

• Carry out site visits and prepare clear, well-reasoned officer reports and recommendations
• Negotiate with applicants and agents to secure improvements to schemes where appropriate
• Liaise with consultees, internal teams, members of the public and other stakeholders
• Provide pre-application advice on a range of development proposals
• Draft and negotiate planning conditions and, where relevant, planning obligations
• Support the preparation of committee reports and present recommendations where required
• Keep case records accurate and up to date, and work to statutory and performance targets

About the role

Our client is looking for a Development Management Delivery Consultant to join its team in Chelmsford on an interim basis. The role focuses on moving a live caseload of planning applications through to determination, keeping decisions timely, well reasoned and in line with policy.

The successful candidate will take ownership of their own applications from validation to decision. That includes assessing proposals against national and local planning policy, engaging with applicants, agents and consultees, and writing clear reports that set out the planning balance. You will be expected to make confident, defensible recommendations and to manage your workload against statutory deadlines.

The organisation needs someone who can settle in quickly and contribute from the outset. You will work alongside colleagues across the wider planning function, supporting delivery of the service and maintaining quality while the caseload moves forward.

The offer

This is an interim position based in Chelmsford. Rate, start date and duration are to be confirmed with candidates. You will join an established planning team and take on a live caseload from the start of the assignment.
