Job summary

Platform Recruitment is seeking a Development Engineer for an opto-mechanical engineering business in Great Chesterford, UK. You will work across the full product development lifecycle from concept to validation and manufacture on technically challenging projects.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, laboratory testing, data analysis, and producing technical documentation. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics or related field is required, with industrial experience

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics or related discipline.
• Industrial experience in product development or R&D.
• Experience with lab testing, validation and technical reporting.
• Understanding of mechanical design principles and precision engineering.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• CAD experience; knowledge of manufacturing or NPI processes is advantageous.

This role offers the opportunity to work across the full product development lifecycle, from early-stage concepts through to product validation and manufacture, while working on technically challenging projects in a collaborative engineering environment.
