Job summary

Platform Recruitment is seeking a Development Engineer for an opto-mechanical engineering business in Great Chesterford, UK. You will work across the full product development lifecycle from concept to validation and manufacture on technically challenging projects.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, laboratory testing, data analysis, and producing technical documentation. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics or related field is required, with industrial experience

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics or related discipline.
Industrial experience in product development or R&D.
Experience with lab testing, validation and technical reporting.
Understanding of mechanical design principles and precision engineering.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
CAD experience; knowledge of manufacturing or NPI processes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering projects from concept through to manufacture.
Develop new products and processes - supporting NPI.
Plan and carry out laboratory testing, analysis and product validation.
Produce technical documentation, reports and engineering specifications.
Work with cross-functional teams to improve product performance and manufacturing processes.
Support continuous improvement activities and technical problem solving.
