Job description

Development and Calibration Engineer, Cheltenham

Hyundai Motorsport GmbH, based in Alzenau near Frankfurt/M. in Germany, is responsible for Hyundai's global motorsport activities. We are seeking a creative Development and Calibration Engineer to join our Testing and Simulation Team. The role involves powertrain system thermo-fluids modelling and performance analysis to develop a competitive, world-class product.

Responsibilities:
  1. Powertrain calibration at the test bench and race track as needed.
  2. Defining test procedures for new powertrain components, software, or hardware, and overseeing test execution.
  3. Optimizing engine calibration and strategies for maximum performance and reliability.
  4. Providing innovative solutions to engineering challenges to benefit our products.
  5. Participating in concept evaluation and analysis independently, within a team, and collaborating with product development teams.
  6. Creating and validating robust engineering models and solutions.
  7. Enhancing engineering skills through problem-solving and solution development.
Qualifications:
  • Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering field, with a focus on ICE.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in high-performance or motorsport powertrain development.
  • Experience with hybrid powertrains is advantageous.
  • Expertise in state-of-the-art TC-DI engine development, especially in powertrain test bench calibration and development.
  • Knowledge of modern automated test equipment.
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages.
  • Strong manual dexterity and practical skills.
  • Formula SAE experience is highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of ICE/powertrain testing and metrology.
  • Fundamental knowledge of internal combustion engines and powertrain systems.
  • Experience with test bench automation, combustion analysis, and CAN bus architecture.
  • Proficiency in data post-processing tools such as Wintax and ATLAS.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is a plus or willingness to learn.
