Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it's so much more than this.

We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire's water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region's health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Developer Services are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

Putting people at the heart of everything we do, this role acts as the on-site representative for Developer Services, supporting homeowners and small developers throughout the early stages of their connections journey. Combining site surveying, connection design input, underground inspections and face-to-face customer engagement, the role provides clear, practical and accurate advice to help customers progress their applications and complete required works. The role also supports customers following completion of their works by undertaking underground inspections to confirm readiness for connection, ensuring requirements have been met and reducing aborted or failed connection visits. By providing early clarity on site conditions, design feasibility and next steps, the role helps minimise delays, prevent rework and ensure a smooth customer journey from initial enquiry through to application, connection readiness and delivery.

  • Provide clear, professional and practical face-to-face guidance to homeowners and developers, helping them understand connection requirements, processes, timescales and next steps.
  • Support customers in preparing accurate and complete applications by explaining site, design and documentation requirements, reducing rejected applications and unnecessary delays.
  • Carry out on-site inspections of completed customer works to verify compliance with required standards and confirm readiness for connection across all developer types.
  • Identify and proactively resolve issues that could result in aborted or failed connection visits, raising follow-on work where required to support right-first-time delivery.
  • Support meter installation activities where delivery partners are unable to complete work, ensuring customers continue to receive a seamless service.
  • Undertake technical investigations, Non-Household and SafeMove site visits and queries as required, helping to prevent illegal connections and address GAP site issues.

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues early, elevate concerns appropriately and manage multiple priorities across different locations.
  • Able to work independently in dynamic field-based environments, interpret site conditions, develop practical solutions
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.

Although we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it's important to us that we support flexible working patterns and job share options (when we can), to help you make the best of both your work and home life.
