Job summary

Mitie Group plc. in Bedford is seeking a Detainee Custody Officer for Yarlswood VB. You will escort and transport immigration residents, maintain safety and dignity, and work a mix of day and night shifts.

No prior experience required; full training is provided, including a 4-week paid course and progression to a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Detention and Custody over 13 months. Random drug/alcohol testing is part of the role.

Qualifications

• UK citizen or eligible to work in the UK
• Valid UK passport
• Residence in the UK for the past 3 years
• Enhanced DBS check, employer references (last 5 years) and CTC vetting
• Full UK manual driving licence (12+ months)
• Fewer than 7 points on licence; no bans in last 12 months
• Over 21 years of age

Responsibilities

• Escort and transport immigration residents within the UK
• Drive a small minibus-sized vehicle and ensure safe transport
• Maintain high security and safety standards with dignity and respect
• Provide care to residents at Yarlswood VB and maintain security
• Work a mix of day and night shifts as part of a 24/7 operation
