Job summary

Thames Valley Police in Reading seeks an experienced Detective Sergeant to lead the Covert Operations Unit. You will plan and oversee undercover operations, ensuring lawful, ethical practice and high performance across SEROCU regional theatres.

You will provide tactical guidance, supervise covert deployments, and manage risk, welfare and staff development while collaborating with regional and national partners in a dynamic policing environment.

Qualifications

• PIP 2 accreditation is required.
• Completion of the College of Policing A3 course or ability to pass within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate undercover operations and provide tactical advice to investigations.
• Supervise covert deployments and manage risk and welfare of staff.
• Ensure operations are conducted lawfully, ethically and in line with national standards.
• Develop staff performance and maintain liaison with regional and national partners.
