Job summary

MTS Recruitment Ltd is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Inspector for a Denham-based role in a manufacturing environment. You will inspect components, interpret drawings and specifications, and ensure products meet quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience using inspection tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out testing and inspection of components using various inspection processes.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
• Identify part numbers, revisions, and surface finishes.
• Generate and maintain inspection documentation.
• Use SAP to record work in progress and track batches.
• Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained.
• Create and maintain inspection programmes for CNC contour tracers and vision systems.
• Support training and development of new employees.

Location: Denham, Buckinghamshire
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary:£36.7k + 22.5% Shift Allowance
Working Hours:Week 1: Mon-Thurs 06:00-14:00, Fri 06:00-12:00

Week 2: Mon-Thurs 13:45-22:00, Fri 11:45-16:15

We are recruiting an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join an established engineering and manufacturing organisation in Denham.

This position would suit an experienced Mechanical Inspector, Quality Inspector or Inspection Technician with a background in manufacturing or engineering. You will be responsible for inspecting and verifying components, interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications, and ensuring products meet the required quality standards.

The Role

• Carry out testing and inspection of components using a variety of inspection processes and techniques
• Accurately interpret engineering drawings, test procedures and technical specifications
• Identify part numbers, drawing revisions, process specifications and surface finishes
• Generate and maintain accurate inspection documentation
• Use SAP to record work in progress and track component batches
• Record the location of components and parts accurately
• Record non-conforming products
• Create, test, validate and maintain inspection programmes for CNC contour tracers, vision machines and other automated or semi-automated metrology systems
• Ensure inspection equipment is checked, maintained and within calibration
• Complete work in accordance with company procedures, quality standards and production schedules
• Ensure all relevant Health & Safety requirements are followed
• Support 5S and continuous improvement initiatives
• Handle components and materials safely and in accordance with relevant instructions
• Liaise with the Cell Leader regarding issues or changes
• Suggest improvements to procedures and drawings where appropriate
• Support the training and development of new employees and less experienced colleagues

Skills and Experience Required

• Previous inspection experience
• Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Good numeracy and geometry skills
• Working knowledge of GDT/GD&T (Geometrical Dimensional Tolerancing)
• Experience using inspection tools and equipment
• Experience using hand tools
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work effectively within a production environment
• SAP experience would be advantageous
• AS9102 FAIR experience would be advantageous
• CMM experience or equivalent would be beneficial
• Aerospace experience would be desirable

Qualifications

• Good standard of education, including GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
• An engineering apprenticeship would be preferred
