Job summary

Kurt Geiger's Carvela brand is seeking a design-minded individual to support the Designer in developing premium sneaker and casual footwear collections designed in Milan. You will research trends, create sketches and detailed tech drawings, produce specs, and collaborate with suppliers and the Buying Team to ensure fit and aesthetics meet brand requirements.

You will translate concepts into illustrations, track samples, and maintain a sample tracker through development, with attention to detail

• Creative flair with a passion for sneakers and casual footwear.
• Ability to interpret trends through the lens of the brand, incorporating existing house codes and evolving iconic styles.
• Ability to translate concepts and two-dimensional designs into detailed illustrations using Adobe Illustrator or freehand sketching.
• A practical knowledge and experience of producing spec sheets for production.
• Working independently but within a team.
• Positive attitude with strong relationship-building and communication skills.
• Open minded and receptive to feedback, flexible with the ability to adapt when direction shifts.

Responsibilities

• Produce sketches and detailed technical drawings (using Illustrator and Photoshop as relevant).
• Produce detailed specs and design modifications.
• Maintain a sample tracker throughout the development process.
• Work effectively with suppliers to ensure the design critical path is adhered to at all times.
• Develop excellent relationships with other relevant Head Office departments.
• Keep samples organised and display the collection for meetings.
• General administration and keeping samples organized.

Requirements

• Have a flair for design with great creativity and imagination
• Be able to produce high-quality work to targets and tight deadlines
• Be able to offer original ideas to evolve brand best sellers
• Constantly research trends, new materials, trims, and colour palettes and show understanding of how they can be applied to the collections
• Competitor product research
• Support your Designer in working closely with the Buying Team to ensure fit and aesthetics meet brand requirements
• Support your Designer in developing customer and market-focused collections
• Sketch and complete detailed technical drawings (using Illustrator and Photoshop as relevant)
• Produce detailed specs and design modifications
• Display excellent attention to detail
• General administration
• Keeping samples organised and displaying the collection for meetings.
• Maintain a sample tracker throughout the development process
• Work effectively with suppliers to ensure the design critical path is adhered to at all times
