Job summary

Carvela, part of Kurt Geiger, seeks a designer to shape premium accessories. You will sketch, develop detailed drawings, and craft specs while researching trends and materials. You’ll support the Designer and Buying Team to ensure fit and aesthetics meet brand standards.

You will work with suppliers to keep the design critical path on track and help develop market-focused collections, maintaining samples and documentation throughout the process.

Qualifications

• Design-focused candidate with strong sketching and technical drawing skills.
• Ability to research trends, materials, trims and colour palettes.
• Experience supporting designers with fit, aesthetics and supplier coordination.

Responsibilities

• Sketch and complete detailed technical drawings using Illustrator/Photoshop.
• Produce detailed specs and design modifications.
• Support Designer with trend research and competitor analysis.
• Collaborate with Buying Team to ensure brand aesthetics meet requirements.
• Develop customer and market-focused collections.
• Maintain samples and organise for meetings; track development.

• Have a flair for design with great creativity and imagination

• Be able to produce high-quality work to targets and tight deadlines

• Be able to offer original ideas to evolve brand best sellers

• Constantly research trends, new materials, trims, and colour palettes and show understanding of how they can be applied to the collections

• Competitor product research

• Support your Designer in working closely with the Buying Team to ensure fit and aesthetics meet brand requirements

• Support your Designer in developing customer and market-focused collections

• Sketch and complete detailed technical drawings (using Illustrator and Photoshop as relevant)

• Produce detailed specs and design modifications

• Display excellent attention to detail

• General administration

• Keeping samples organised and displaying the collection for meetings.

• Maintain a sample tracker throughout the development process

• Work effectively with suppliers to ensure the design critical path is adhered to at all times

• Develop excellent relationships with other relevant Head Office departments

• Any other tasks which are deemed as reasonable responsibilities by your Line Manager
