Job summary

Cornerstone Project Source in Essex is seeking a permanent Hard Metals and Flat Roofing & Cladding Designer (2D AutoCAD) or BIM (Revit) Designer to join a leading contractor delivering hard metal roofing, facades and flat roofing across the UK.

You will ensure drawings meet high standards, manage design proposals and stay compliant with building regulations, with immediate start and a Monday‑to‑Friday pattern at our Essex office.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' hard metal roofing and/or flat roofing and cladding design experience.
• Full driving licence.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to work to tight timeframes and provide high levels of customer care.
• High attention to detail and strong construction knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all drawings and designs are produced on time and to a high standard.
• Develop and implement design proposals meeting client expectations.
• Adhere to budget constraints to keep designs viable.
• Present proposals to clients for approval.
• Oversee design processes with technical expertise.
• Maintain documentation in line with ISO 9001.
• Coordinate information for building control compliance.
• Lead design data production for project needs and timelines.
• Review architectural intent to develop acceptable construction solutions.
• Coordinate subcontractor drawings to resolve conflicts.

A leading specialist roofing and cladding contractor is currently looking for permanent Hard Metals and Flat Roofing & Cladding Designers in Essex, with positions available for both a 2D AutoCAD Designer and a BIM (Revit) Designer. The business is one of the UK's leading specialists in fully supported hard metal roofing, facades, cladding systems and flat roofing, and is growing rapidly with many projects across the UK. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are produced on time and to a high specification.

Start Date: Immediate
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Location: Essex
Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Monday - Friday)

Duties

• Ensure all construction drawings and designs are produced on time and to a high-quality standard
• Manage the development and implementation of design proposals and ensure they meet the client's expectations
• Adhere to budget constraints to keep the developed design financially viable
• Present proposals to the client for approval
• Oversee the design process using technical expertise
• Maintain thorough documentation of design and development, complying with ISO 9001
• Keep up to date with changing building legislation and codes of practice relating to design
• Coordinate the submission of information to satisfy building control compliance
• Lead the coordination and production of design data, bid deliverables, reports and documentation essential to project and contractual requirements, and report progress against the design deliverables programme
• Oversee the design of multiple projects throughout the contract period
• Review and understand architectural design intent documentation to develop acceptable construction solutions
• Coordinate subcontractor drawings from various trades to identify conflicts and produce a cohesive overall design
• Review product technical data to ensure product compliance and incorporate it into designs
• Assist with design schedules
• Provide design and technical support to all departments throughout the design and construction phase
• Attend design team meetings and lead the process with consultants and subcontract designers
• Prepare full site reports from site surveys on progress, quality and compliance
• Stay up to date with industry trends

Requirements

• 5+ years' hard metal roofing and/or flat roofing and cladding design experience (preferable)
• Full driving licence
• Excellent organisational skills
• Ability to work to tight timeframe and provide high levels of customer care
• High-level competency with AutoCAD (2D Designer) or Revit (BIM Designer)
• Knowledge of Approved Document Part B and NHBC conditions (Essential)
• A strong record of ensuring quality design information is provided in accordance with project requirements
• Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships
• High attention to detail
• A good grasp of core construction ideas and principles
• Ability to clearly communicate construction concepts, both visually and verbally
• Construction/design-related further education (advantageous)
• Construction/design-related HNC/HND/Degree (advantageous)
• Membership of a professional body (preferable but not essential)
• Familiarity with online document portals such as 4projects and Aconex (advantageous)
