Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Design & Technology Technician for an outstanding secondary school in East Finchley, North London. The technician will support the DT department across Key Stages 3 to A-Levels, ensuring workshop safety, preparing materials, and assisting students during hands-on lessons.

Responsibilities include maintaining machinery, stock control, and assisting teachers with practical sessions.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a DT Technician in a school environment or practical background in carpentry, engineering, or product design.
• Solid knowledge of workshop tools, machinery, and Health & Safety procedures.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., 2D Design, SolidWorks, 3D printing) is highly advantageous.
• Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to task management.
• Full right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Prepare timber, acrylics, metals, and tools for practical sessions across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level.
• Maintain, service, and ensure the safe working order of workshop machinery (e.g., band saws, pillar drills, sanders, 3D printers, and laser cutters).
• Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety regulations (DATA/COSHH guidelines) across workshops, prep rooms, and storage spaces.
• Support classroom teachers during practical lessons, helping students safely operate equipment and machinery.
• Monitor stock levels, organize materials, and manage equipment maintenance records.
