Job summary

Bedford Girls’ School is seeking a hands-on Workshop Assistant to support the Design & Technology department during term time. You will help with daily care of workshop machinery, organise materials, label resources, unpack deliveries and maintain store cupboards.

You will assist with lesson preparation, cut and organise DT materials, prepare work for moderation, and provide support for theatre productions by helping construct sets and props.

Qualifications

• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of workshop machinery and equipment for lesson preparation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily care, organisation and maintenance of workshop machinery and tools.
• Prepare, cut and organise DT materials and make prototypes.
• Photograph and prepare student work for school magazine, website and display boards.
• Provide support for Theatre Technician in set and prop construction for school productions.
• Give technical guidance to students on materials, processes and technologies including timber and polymers.
