Job summary

Queensmead is seeking a Design & Technology Technician to support and maintain the school's workshop facilities. The role focuses on setting up and maintaining equipment for lessons, including wood, metal and plastics, and coordinating resources for the Design & Technology Department.

The ideal candidate will be capable with laser cutting and 3D printing technologies, and will assist students and staff in the workshops.

Qualifications

• Experience in setting up, using and maintaining workshop equipment is essential.
• Experience with 3D printing and laser cutting technologies is highly desirable.
• Ability to support students and staff in a school workshop environment is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for the Design & Technology Department.

Salary information:Scale 4,£26,987 - £28,164 per annum (dependent upon experience)

Queensmead is an oversubscribed 11-18 mixed school.We have a reputation for teachingexcellence, which leads to exceptional outcomes for our students at both GCSE and A level.Weinvest heavily in our staff and we are very proud of their success.

With access to new facilities completed in 2022, the building includes three workshops and twocomputer suites, with areas set aside for 3D printing and laser cutting projects.

We are looking for a DT Technician to provide support for the Design & Technology Department.

The ideal candidate will be competent in the set-up, use and maintenance of workshop equipmentand machinery, new technologies such as laser cutting and 3D printing and art processes.It willinvolve preparing resources and equipment for lessons: hard materials: woods, metals andplastics, as well as maintaining machinery and ordering supplies.

Previous experience of working in an educational environment is advantageous because you willneed to be able to support students and staff in the workshops. A knowledge of basicengineering and/or mechanics would be highly advantageous, however, full training will be given.
