Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Design Technology Technician to support the DT department in a school setting. The role focuses on preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and keeping the workshop environment safe and well-resourced for staff and students.

The technician will assist with practical lessons, manage stock of materials, service machinery, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to enable high-quality teaching and learning.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school, workshop, or technical support environment.
• Experience using workshop machinery and tools.
• Experience supporting practical learning environments or training settings.
• Experience managing stock, equipment, or workshop resources.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for Design & Technology lessons across relevant specialisms.
• Assist teachers and students during practical lessons by helping with machinery, tools and equipment.
• Demonstrate safe working practices and guide students in using workshop equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
• Support practical assessments and examination coursework preparation.
