Job summary

Oakwood School is seeking a Design Technology Technician to join a busy, safety-focused department delivering curriculum to 1600 pupils across Key Stage 3 and various Key Stage 4 options.

Your role includes preparing and maintaining resources, promoting health and safety, conducting risk assessments, supervising practical activities, and collaborating with staff to maintain a secure learning space. Training is available.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain resources and equipment, ensuring they are safe and ready for use.
  • Champion health and safety for Design Technology and lead safe practices across the subject.
  • Carry out risk assessments and safety checks, supporting staff and students.
  • Supervise and assist students during practical activities, reinforcing safe behaviours.
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain an engaging and safe learning space.

Surrey Pay Grade S5 - £28,546 to £30,581 (FTE): Actual salary based on 32.5 hours is £22,170 - £23,751

Oakwood is a mainstream secondary school which is inclusive and supports the individual needs of all our students. We have exciting opportunities for the following support staff to join our friendly and supportive team.

  • Flexible Hours, to be negotiated with a minimum of 25 hours per week up to 32.5 hours, term time only.

Oakwood School is seeking a highly motivated Design Technology Technician to join our vibrant and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in a busy, safety-focused department delivering an engaging curriculum to 1600 pupils at Key Stage 3 and a wide range of Key Stage 4 options, including Design and Technology, Hospitality and Catering, and Food Preparation and Nutrition.

Your Role would include:

  • Prepare and maintain resources and equipment, ensuring all are safe, clean, and ready for use.
  • Be a champion for health and safety for Design Technology, helping to lead safe working practices across the subject.
  • Carry out risk assessments and regular safety checks, supporting staff and students to work safely at all times.
  • Supervise and assist students during practical activities, always reinforcing safe behaviours.
  • Work collaboratively with our dedicated team to maintain an engaging and safe learning space.

Training is available as required.
