Location: Hemel Hempstead

Job Summary:

Lockmetal Ltd is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Technician to join our team. The Design Technician will play a crucial role in supporting our design and contracts teams working on construction and manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of construction and manufacturing principles, as well as proficiency in CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with assigned team members to create detailed design drawings and specifications for construction and manufacturing projects.
• Use CAD software, specifically AutoCAD, to produce accurate and high-quality technical drawings and plans.
• Interpret and implement design guidelines, building regulations, and industry standards.
• Review and revise design drawings based on feedback from project teams and clients.
• Create fabrication drawings and pre-production order forms for suppliers.
• Maintain and organise design files, ensuring they are up-to-date and easily accessible.
• Work closely with architects and subcontractors to ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Assist in project documentation and administrative tasks as needed.
• Contribute to tender take off and product specification when required.
• Conduct site surveys when required
• Work with project team to ensure design and preproduction times are on programme.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of construction and manufacturing principles.
• Previous experience or relevant coursework in construction principles and / or engineering and manufacturing design.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design work.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and design software.
• A bachelor's degree or NVQ in a related field is a plus but not mandatory.
• Driving license

This position will be based at our Hemel Hempstead office. The Design Technician will work closely with our design and project teams in a collaborative and innovative work environment. Attend site surveys and design meetings both independently and also with other team members when required.
