Job summary

Birchwell Associates is seeking a Design Systems Designer to build scalable design systems and reusable components across multiple products.

You will partner with product designers, UI designers and frontend engineers to evolve tokens, documentation and governance, ensuring accessible, consistent experiences at scale.

This London-based role offers hybrid working, ownership of a design system used across digital products, and the chance to shape the long‑term system roadmap.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience in product, UI or design-system design.
• Strong Figma knowledge, including components, variants, libraries.
• Portfolio demonstrating scalable component and system thinking.
• Good understanding of accessibility, responsive design and design tokens.
• Experience collaborating closely with frontend engineers, ideally around Storybook.
• Strong documentation, facilitation and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reusable components, patterns, tokens and shared foundations.
• Develop and govern Figma libraries, variables, documentation and contribution standards.
• Partner with frontend engineers to align design components with coded components.
• Improve accessibility, consistency and scalability across product experiences.
• Support adoption through guidance, workshops, critique and practical documentation.
• Measure system usage, identify gaps and prioritise the design-system roadmap.
